The 2018 trip to Sri Lanka in October/November 2018 faced initial delays with our shipment of donated items, and lengthy delays for the goods to pass through customs.
Once we finally overcame those hurdles we were able to commence the privilege of delivering school supplies to the children, witnessing the sheer excitement and delight that radiated from their faces.
At one school I received a warm welcome at the gate from the principal, teachers, and prefects, who presented me with a beautiful basket of flowers. The school band serenaded me as they guided me to the reception room. Two adorable grade one students held my hand, each proudly clutching an Australian and Sri Lankan flag. It was simply heartwarming.
